Founded in Milan in 1993, NEMO represents, within the design lighting producers’ scenario, a benchmark name, going back to the roots of innovation that always inspired Italian design. The collection of contemporary design includes models conceived by Carlo Forcolini, Jehs + Laub, Javier Mariscal, Karim Rashid, Ilaria Marelli, Foster+Partners, Hannes Wettstein and Roberto Paoli.
Alongside with this wide range of products, Nemo edits the Masters collection, a unique selection of icons, realized by the designers that have provided a fundamental contribution to the creation of the contemporary design: Le Corbusier, Vico Magistretti, Franco Albini, Charlotte Perriand and Kazuhide Takahama.
NEMO is owned by Federico Palazzari.

Euroluce 2017

For the 2017 Euroluce Edition, during the Milan Design Week, Nemo partecipate with a display designed by CLS Architetti.

La Luce exhibition, displayed at Courtrai BIENNALE INTERIEUR, was updated and enriched by two new product form Le Corbusier: the Borne Béton, designed in 1952 and the Parliament floor lamp, designed in 1963. 

NEMO Collection 2016

On the occasion of the fifty-fourth edition of the Salone del Mobile, Nemo presents the 2106 Nemo Collection, a process of research that focuses on lightning (LIGHTING). Collection 2016 presents works by Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, Le Corbusier and Rudy Ricciotti and new wave talents: Charles Kalpakian, Arihiro Miyake and Studiocharlie. 


At Light+Building 2016, NEMO continues its solid development with clear linear architectural elements with a constant view towards modularity.

After the presentation in Milan, LA LUCE exhibition goes to Switzerland, guested by Largo showroom, in Geneva's center.

Nemo and American Express will launch LA LUCE, a story-telling exhibition, which will gather for the first time the works on lighting by Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, true pioneers in this field worldwide. Thanks to the Le Corbusier Foundation and the Charlotte Perriand Archives, the public will have the opportunity to admire sketches and studies on lighting. The unpublished historical material, that Paris archives allowed to go out for the first time, will let visitors and enthusiasts to retrace experiences and enjoy the distinctive styles of these two great architects.

Nemo flagship Showroom

On April 8th 2014, the Nemo flagship Showroom was inaugurated in Corso Monforte, Milan.

The showroom is spread over two floors and over an area of about 250 square meters, with 6 windows.

The purpose of the area is, on the one hand, to explain and let people discover the lighting research in a dynamic way and, on the other hand, to propose, in a sort of tunnel, the Master collection of Nemo, including, unique in the world, the masterpieces of Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Franco Albini, as well as Claritas, the first lamp designed by Vico Magistretti.

Nemo at Light and Building and Salone del Mobile 2014

Nemo exhibits in Light and Building in Frankfurt and proudly presents the new catalogue 2014. Few days later Nemo shows the new collection also at the Milan showroom. 


Last year, Nemo received a number of important awards.

The TRU lamp of Roberto Paoli and the Giò lamp of Angeletti Ruzza Design are selected for the ADI Design Index, Compasso d’Oro.


Moreover, the TRU lamp is selected for the 2015 Excellent Product Design.

The Masters collection

The Nemo collection includes projects of Foster+Partners, Javier Mariscal, Carlo Forcolini, Jehs+Laub, Karim Rashid, Ilaria Marelli, Roberto Paoli and Arihiro Miyake.

In constant research of incomparable projects, Nemo created a unique selection in the lighting world, the Masters collection, Masterpiece of the most important exponents of the contemporary design: Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Vico Magistretti, Franco Albini and Kazuhide Takahama.

The “Wallpaper Design Awards 2013 – Best reissue” was awarded to Nemo for the Projecteur 365 of Le Corbusier.

A new direction

In December 2012, Omikron Design S.r.l., a Milanese company of architectural lighting, managed by Federico Palazzari, acquires the majority of Nemo. The Poltrona Frau Group remains an important and key partner.

Euroluce 2011

In occasion of Euroluce 2011 Nemo presents new products from the Masters collection: the Pivotant of Charlotte Perriand and the Lampe de Marseille of Le Corbusier.

Crown collection: iconic chandeliers

Jehs and Laub design Crown Major and Crown Minor for Nemo as new contemporary chandeliers.

The Masters collection

Starting from 2008 Nemo introduces the very first lighting products from the past as the collection of Franco Albini, F.Helg, M.Piva, M.Albini, the Bresil lamp of Le Corbusier and the timeless lamp of Kazuhide Takahama.

Nemo Cassina

In December Nemo became the lighting division of Cassina S.p.A.

Acquisition by Poltrona Frau Group

In 2006, Nemo is acquired by the Poltrona Frau Group and continues its International development, towards investments in innovation and experimentation of new materials and technology.

Frizzi by Karim Rashid

Karim Rashid makes Frizzi for Nemo, a unique ceiling lamp-fan.

Ara floor

Ilaria Marelli designs the Ara floor lamp. A great design achievement and a commercial success, made to last in the years to come.

Regulus lamp

The year  of Regulus. A comprehensive system of lamps available in a range of configurations. Giancarlo Fassina says: “We spent two years at the drawing board, making models and prototypes, then came up with this simple expressive no-frills from, which surprised even us”.

A new acquisition

With the acquisition of Meltemi, Nemo enters the contract sector with lamps in blown glass especially created for the hospitality industry. 

Hydra: a charming lightness

Carlo Forcolini designs the Hydra floor lamp.

A new acquisition

Nemo acquires Italiana Luce (PAF), manufacturer of several classic products: Dove and Logo by Barbaglia and Colombo, Jazz by Porche Design among others. 

The Constellation family

NemNemo launches Constellation, a family of lamps designed by Markus Jehs e J┼▒rgen Laub. “Constellation is a work of precision, like a ship’s porthole of the watches worn by the military”.

Iota: the companion light

The Japanese designer Ikaru Mori designs Iota, a table courtesy lamp.

The very first idea

Nemo’s path is strictly linked to the history of the Italian Design of the last twenty years.

Nemo was founded in 1993 by Franco Cassina, owner of Cassina S.p.A. and by Carlo Forcolini, that felt the need of a project based on innovation, rooting in the tradition that inspired the Italian design.

Thanks to various products that became icons of the Italian design, Nemo has gained a leading position in the lighting design world.
